Olivia Bobak fans 13 Crusaders en route to victory

Monroe hosted Edgewood in a battle of undefeated teams in the Badger South Thursday night. Edgewood took the led in the top of the 1st inning on a RBI double by Natalie Schmitt scoring Madison Moore. However, that would be the last of the scoring for Edgewood as Monroe’s defense played clean softball the entire game and senior Olivia Bobak would scatter 3 hits over 7 innings while striking out 13 and walking only 1.  Monroe played small ball laying down 4 sac bunts and one bunt for a hit to get things going on offense. After all the all the small ball stuff Olivia Bobak and sophomore Sarah Prien crushed RBI triples and double respectively. Sophomore’s Sydney Updike went 2x4, Katie Hayes, and Freshmen Sloane Ambrose also chipped in an RBI apiece. After some early season sickness and injuries Monroe is starting to figure things out. Monroe improves to 5-2 and 4-0 in the Badger South and Edgewood falls to 7-2 and 4-1.

Badger South Standings as of 4/19; Monroe 4-0, Edgewood 4-1, Watertown 3-1, Oregon 4-3, Milton 3-3, Fort Atkinson 2-3, Monona Grove 1-5, Stoughton 0-5.
