The early damage was done by the L-Cats as they scored one in the top of the first and four in the second to break out to the 5-0 lead. The Warriors responded in the fourth inning with three runs to cut the deficit to 5-3.

Warrior pitcher Kylee Gnabasik held off a good-hitting L-Cat lineup and hung zeroes on the board through six innings. In the bottom of the sixth the Warrior bats produced five runs. Gnabasik helped her own cause with a leadoff single and advanced to second on a bunt that retired RCat Richart. Kendra Becker then single and brought up the top of the Warrior order. Down 8-5 the L-Cats got a leadoff double from Lexi Topel who tagged and advance to third on a fly ball to right off the bat of Tija Eglite. With one out third sacker Brianna Jessie homered to pull the L-Cats to within one. Gnabasik gave up a single to Syd Schwartz before getting her out on a fielder's choice. The game ended when Gnabasik retired Ellie Evenson on a come-backer. Topel went 3x3 for Lake Mills while Brianna Jessie was 3x4. Roughen was 2x4 and Evenson added a 2x4 day.

The Warriors were led by Kreiser at 3x4, Burger at 2x4, Gnabasik at 2x3.

Roughen took the loss for the L-Cats.

"We battled back with a late game rally to win," ssaid Lakeside coach Matt Doering.  "It was just a great game.  They hit the ball well early to take the lead.  We stayed focused and hit the ball well in the later innings to take the lead.  Kylee settled in and threw well.  Defensively we had a lapse in the 2nd inning and they made us pay for it, but we stayed with it and played much better after that.  Give Lake Mills a ton of credit.  They played well."

Lakeside remains a game behind Poynette in the win column in the Capitol North while Lake Mills falls two games back.
