Westosha Central took advantage of some miscues early in the game to defeat Burlington 5-2 in Paddock Lake. Olivia Kazumura earned the complete game win, giving up just 4 hits over 7 innings, while striking out 13. "Olivia battled out there today. They have some pesky hitters but she was able to come up with the big out when needed." (co-head coach Tom Lampe). The Falcons opened the scoring by plating 4 in the first inning. Carlie Odejewski led off with a single and moved to second when Becca Edwards was hit by a pitch. One out later, Odejewski scored on a Jill Adams single. Dana Herman followed with a single for a 2-0 lead. An error on the Demons allowed Megan Witt to reach base and Ellie Christeson (running for Adams ) to score. Herman scored one batter later on a Molly Grabarec single. The game remained that way until the 5th inning. With one out Weithouse reached on a single. A walk to Morgan Klein put two on for Gracie Peterson. She roped a double to the LF conner scoring both runs. From there Kazumura was able to coax a strike out to end the inning. The Falcons got one run back in their half of the frame. A two-base error allowed Ellie Witt to reach second. She scored on a two out single by Olivia Nahorniak. The Demons threatened again in the 7th when Peterson hit a one out triple. But Kazumura put out the threat to end the game. "This was a very tough game. Each team fought very hard for each pitch. This was a classic SLC battle." (co-head coach Tom Lampe). Morgan Klein took the loss for the Demons. With the win the Falcons improve to 2-1 in the SLC and 3-1 overall. They return to action tomorrow when they travel to Waterford for a 4:30 SLC game.
