After stranding 10 runners on base through five innings, Libby Neveau's three-run home run in the sixth inning snapped a 1-1 tie and propelled the Oshkosh North High School softball team to a 4-2 victory at Niceville, FL, on Friday, March 29.
Niceville threatened to blow the game open early, loading the bases with one out and scoring on a bases-loaded suicide squeeze before North's Syd Supple fanned the final two batters with the bases juiced.
Neveau was hit by a pitch leading off the fifth inning and advanced on Brie Gauthier's sacrifice bunt and a single by Courtney Day ahead of Emma Leib's two-out full-count RBI single.
Brooke Ellestad's third double of the game and Supple's third intentional walk set the table for Neveau, who launched a towering fly ball over the left-field fence.
The host Eagles scored their final run in the bottom of the seventh.
Ellestad was 3-for-3, Leib was 3-for-4 and Day was 2-for-4 for the Spartans (4-0). Supple fanned nine and walked one, allowing six hits.
