Beloit Memorial nips Janesville Craig 10-9

Beloit Memorial downed Janesville Craig on Tuesday 10--9. The game was tight throughout as Beloit scored one in the first and two in the second to take a 3-0 lead. Craig rallied and took a 4-3 lead with a big third inning but Memorial knotted it up in the bottom of the 4th. In the fifth Craig bolted into the lead with a run and held off the Purple Knights in the bottom half of that inning. The top of the fifth saw Craig score two more but there was not a person at the or in the game that didn't realize that the scoring was not over. In the bottom of the fifth The Purple Knights cut the lead to two with a single run making it 7-5. The sixth inning was loaded with excitement as the Cougars and Knights snarled at each other. Craig scored two more to take a 9-5 lead only to see the Knights wield some hefty clubs in the bottom half and take the 10-9 lead. That score held up in the seventh as the Cougar's snarl was more like a whimper with runs scored. The winner was Walker who allowed eight hits and fanned four. The loser was Kealy who allowed a dozen runs and fanned two.
