Lake Mills'Snarls in season opening twinbill, collect 41 runs on 33 hits

Whitewater beats Jefferson 13-7 and East Troy ten runs McFarland 13-3

East Troy 13, McFarland 3 -- Whitewater 13, Jefferson 7

A tremendously improved Lake Mills softball team scored 12 first-inning runs and sophomore pitcher Taylor Rougen (pronounced Rowan) twirled the seasons' first no-hitter, although just a 3-inning game.

The L-Cats started the season out with a loud snarl as they combined for 41 runs while allowing three. Roughen fanned nine in the first-game no-hitter She added a 2x4 game at the plate with a double. Other leading hitters for the L-Cats were: Evenson 3x4 with a home run; Brianna Jessie at 2x3 with a pair of doubles; Kottwitz was 2x3, and Blacerczak was 2x2. The losing pitcher for Dodgeland was Soter who allowed 14 hits in two innings, just 7 earned runs of the 20 and walked a pair. The Trojans had five errors in the game. 

In the second game, one that went five innings, Roughen again shouldered the work in the circle. She allowed three runs, all earned on four hits, walked none and fanned six. The loser again was Soter who allowed 19 hits,13 earned runs, walked six and fanned two. Leading hitters for Dodgeland were Soter with a a pair including a home run and Schall with two hits including a triple. For the L-Cats Roughenwas 3x4 with a double, Grossman was 4x4 including three doubles, Kottwitz was 2x4 with a triple, Brianna Jessie was 2x4, Evenson went 2x4, Topel was 4x4 and Eglite was 2x4 with a pair of two baggers.
