New Assistant Coach at Madison College and other Musings

WolfPack add former UW-GB star Allie Taylor to softball staff

2/9/2018 | Softball

The Madison College softball team and coach Leo Kalinowski have added former University of Wisconsin-Green Bay standout Allie Taylor to its coaching staff for the upcoming 2018 season, which begins with the N4C Dome Jamboree, March 2-4.

I just watched the UW-Green Bay game against Northern Iowa in the Uni-Dome in Cedar Falls, Iowa. The Phoenix sent freshman pitcher Kayla Schwebke to the circle for her first collegiate start. The Laconia graduate and three-time state championship pitcher pitched well, allowing two runs in a 5-2 defeat. She twirled the first four innings. Other former Wisconsin high school players on the roster include: Sonja Schubert of Elkhart Lake, Alexis Otto of Ashwaubenon, Jenna Smarzinski of Kimberly, Emily Maderios of Beaver Dam, Bailey Schultz of Mosinee, Elizabeth Pautz of Pulaski, Chyanne Onstad of Westosha Central and Aubrey Drohner of SPASH.

Here is just another musing. In an email sent out to high school athletic directors today from the WIAA office. A new WIAA rule for baseball now allows baseball pitcher to begin workouts under the supervision of a high school coach five days the week prior to the offiical season start. Softball does not have that provision. Below is a link to the guidelines for that.

Keep it Rising!
