The WFSCA in late October notified two current Wisconsin High School Head Softball coaches and one former head coach that they had been nominated and had been selected for induction to the WFSCA Hall of Fame at the February coaching clinic.
Don Bjelland started the Grantsburg fastpitch program. In his time as the head coach of the Pirates his teams have won many conference titles and have won just over 400 games with the 400th coming on May 15th of 2017. The Pirates have been to the Final Four seven times, won state titles twice (2006-2009). They finished runner-up in 2016.
Doug Mock, former head coach at Oakfield led the Oaks to 9 trips to the Final Four, won three state titles, were runner-up once. His teams won in excess of 350 games. Doug also organized, ran and coached the Oakfield summer fastpitch program for many years.
Cindy Suess, currently the head softball coach at Oshkosh North High School began her high school coaching career at Verona where she led the Wildcats to numerous conference championships (she has never forwarded that information to this office), made five trips to the Division 1 Final 4 and were state runners-up in 2001 and 2002. She then left the high school realm of coaching and took on the head coaching position at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh before returning to the high school scene at North where she led that team to the past two state tournaments.
Tom Drohner started coaching at SPASH 20 years ago in that time has led the Panthers to every Wisconsin Valley championship but one since. The Panthers have been to the Final Four nine times while claiming eight state titles.
