After falling behind in the top of the first inning when Winnebago Lutheran scored a run on a single and triple, Poynette recovered and knotted the score in the bottom of the first.

The Pumas added three runs in the second highlighted by a Maegan Brookins liner that sailed over the fence in left center, a two-run shot. Three runs in all cross the plate in that inning. Four more in the third highlighted by three hits made it 11-1 after four innings.

WLA scored an unearned run in the top of the fifth but the Pumas got the twelfth run when McKenna Horacek drew a base on balls and advanced to second on a wild pitch. A free pass to Brooke Dredske put runners on first and second. Freshman catcher Lizzie Schwenn then laced a double in the gap to leftfield sending Horacek home with the mercy run rule winner.

Mattie Bredeson got the win wile pitching four innings, striking out 6 and walking none. She allowed three hits. The loser was Bailey North.

Dredske went 2x3 as did catcher Mya Knuteson. Bredeson helped herself out with a pair of singles as well.

Poynette moved to 26-1 on the season and will face Campbellsport on Friday at Diamond of Champions in Poynette. Game time is 5 PM. The winner will advance to the sectional semi-final to be played in Rosendale.
