Final was 9-0

Westosha Central returned to conference action with a 9-0 victory at Burlington. Alyssa Hrncar pitched the complete game shutout for her 4th win of the season. The senior allowed only three Demons to reach base with no walks and 8 strikeouts. "She didn't lose accuracy after the layoff. It's great to have her back in the circle. We are a stronger team for having to endure it." (co-head coach Tom Lampe) Hrncar's pitching performance was matched by solid play at the plate and in the field by the Falcons. They scored a single run in the 2nd. Carrie Weis led off by reaching on an error. She later scored on a solid single by Andrea Edquist. Westosha added three more in the next frame. Olivia Kazumura led off by being hit with a pitch. Olivia Klean moved her to second and then she scored on a single by Kira Mickelson. Mickelson scored when the next batter, Weis, doubled to left center. Weis was plated on a ground out by Danielle Gulliford. Four singles in the 5th extended Central's lead. Becca Edwards and Kendall Krumm scored on singles by Gulliford and Kayla Kerkman. Kira Mickelson ended the scoring with her 4th home run of the season; a two-run shot to right center. For the day Mickelson, Weis Kerkman and Edwards each had two hits in the 11 hit attack. Mickelson plated three while Gulliford batted in 2. "We've been hitting the ball very well as a team recently. It's nice to see the balance in the line up. It makes it hard to pitch around anyone in particular. Hopefully we can continue this trend." (co-head coach Tom Lampe) With the win the Falcons improved to 9-1 overall and 7-0 in the Southern Lakes Conference. They return to action in the SLC tomorrow when they travel to Elkhorn for a double header starting at 4:00.
