The Fastpitch Bulletin, Volume 16, Number 2 -- July 27, 20016

Hello again fastpitch folks.

Former Marshall Head Softball Coach and most recently an assistant coach at Monona Grove, and a very good friend of mine as well as ice fishing partner, Bruce Wuchterl is recuperating after having had heart by-pass surgery last Friday in Madison. Bruce is doing well. Keep him your thoughts.

Another great friend and longtime Rice Lake softball coach Gary Haus has resigned that position. Gary's love for the game and passionate approach has always been one I appreciated. Some may call his style "old school" but that term is a misnomer.  A correct term to use for his approach was always "Successful." He communicated when communication was necessary. He buckled down when buckling down was what was called for. He taught the game passionately and was constantly striving to learn more about the game and how to more efficiently teach it to a group of kids at a Division 2 school playing in a rugged Division 1 conference -- the Big Rivers. Gary never shied away from tough competition but rather sought it. He didn't want to play weak sisters -- he wanted to see the best. In know Gary will miss the coaching but I'm not convinced that he will miss the game any more than the game in this state is going to miss him. He leaves a void in Rice Lake and statewide. I know there are others who regularly read these bulletins that feel the same way.

That's it for tonight. Have a great end of the week.

Keep it Rising!
Bob
