Bob Sulser has a record of 430-180 overall and 278-120 at Turner

Longtime high school fastpitch softball head coach Bob Sulser has been replaced at Turner High School near Beloit. Sulser, a member of the Wisconsin Fastpitch Coaches Association Hall of Fame has a career record of 430-180 in coaching stints at Madison Memorial and Turner. In his years at Turner the team never had a losing season and Bob virtually built the program from the bottom to the top, twice leading the school to the WIAA state tournament.

With the new divisional format ready to go into effect in 2017 Turner will find themselves in Division 3 rather than the Division 2 level they have been in for the past several years. The WIAA website lists the enrollment at Turner at 457 and has announced that the probably cutoff from Division 3 up to Division 4 will be in the neighborhood of 480 students. Turner will undoubtedly enter the 2017 season as one of the top ranked teams statewide in Division 3.

Here is a link to an article in the Beloit paper that explains a few things but not in a lot of detail.

The FPC wishes Bob Sulser the best of luck in whatever he decides to do. If he chooses to continue coaching at a different school, that school's softball program will be in good hands.

"I'm sure the Turner program will continue to be a strong one as Bob built a solid foundation from the start and was able to negotiate all the distractions and issues a head coach faces year in and year out," stated one longtime head coach in the state. "He undoubtedly taught his assistant coaches as well as his players throughout the years. There is not a lot of tweaking to be done within a program with that kind of success. They will be a load for every team they face"
