Luxemburg-Casco 5 Shawano 4
Luxemburg-Casco defeated Shawano 5 to 4 to claim the regional championship and advance to Tuesday's Sectional Semi-Final to be played in Luxemburg against Southern Door.
The Spartans took the early lead in the bottom of the first inning as Madysen Thayse hit a two out double and Taylor Cravillion drove her in with a RBI single. Shawano answered in the top of the second on a lead off double by Brandi Gueths who scored on consecutive sacrifices by Kristina Wynos and Julia Beck. LC regained the lead in the third on a one out triple by Dana Deterville and an RBI single by Madysen Thayse. The score remained 2-1 until the Spartans opened up a 5-1 lead with a three run bottom of the sixth. Nicole Haen, Samantha Weinfurter and Brianna Prevost all scored via a hit, error and ground out. Shawano closed the gap to one when Gueths again hit a double which produced two RBI. The game ended with a fly out with the tying run on third.
Winning pitcher Emily Schiltz threw a complete game seven hitter. Emilee Bastar took the loss.
