WIAA Div. 3 regional quarterfinal

Mackenzie Dane's three-run homer in the bottom of the fifth inning ended the game via the run rule. Dane was 3-for-4 on the night with a double, home run and seven runs batted in.

At Waterloo a see-saw battle took place that didn't end without some fireworks. Waterloo took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first but New Glarus went up 2-1 in the second. The Pirates knotted the game in their half of the second but the Glarner Knights took off on a offensive flurry and led 7-2. Waterloo countered with a big inning from the Renforth sisters as well as Ashley Kneisel to take a 9-7 lead. They extended the lead to 12-7 before New Glarus countered. The Pirates added two more to make it 14-12 and then held on in the top of the seventh with the bases loaded.

Waterloo will travel to Poynette to take on the Pumas in what has been a big game for the past six or seven years in first, second and third round tournament action.
