The 30th Annual Poynette Fastpitch Jamboree will get underway at 4:00 PM Friday with 18 games being played on 10 fields in Poynette, Arlington, and Portage. Three games will be played under the lights. Some key Friday matchups include a 4:00 PM game between#2 ranked Division 1 school Westosha Central and top ranked Division 2 school LaCrosse Logan.; Marshall and Juda/Albany both highly regarded in Divisions 3 and 4; and DeForest and the state's top ranked team in Union Grove.
Saturday's slate of games features some promising barn-burners with Westosha Central and Kayla Konwent taking on Eau Claire North and pitcher Abby Long at 11:00 on the varsity softball field at Poynette High School. Another good matchup takes place at the same time as Rice Lake plays highly ranked River Valley who features a first-team all state pitcher and first team all state catcher. Two teams that met in last year's Division 3 sectional final, Cuba City and Poynette will face off in Poynette at 3:00 PM on Diamond of Champions. Union Grove plays Oconomomoc at 11:00 AM on the JV field at Poynette High School while Beaver Dam and Shawano tangle at 1:00 PM in Portage. Another good matchup is at 11:00 AM when Stoughton and Holly Brickson take on Whitnall on Diamond three at Poynette High School. At 3:00 PM Westosha Central will play Whitnall while Eau Clarie North plays Union Grove. Perennial Division 4 power Oakfield will play Appleton Xavier and Southern Door at 11 and then 3. Stoughton and Northwestern, another highly regarded Division 2 team will play at 3 in Arlington. Mineral Points will battle with Xavier at 3 PM in DeForest so that game promises to be a good one.
There promises to be many thrills and exciting plays and games so make plans to take in several games throughout the day.
