Union Grove 10, Burlington 0

UG 10R, 10 H, 0 E
BHS 0R, 1 H, 2 E

UG by inning 1 in 1st, 1 in 3rd, 2 in 5 th, 6 in

UG opened the scoring in the first on a lead off home run from Kallista Hribar.  They added another in the 3rd on a solo shot off the bat of Alyssa McClelland but for the better part of the first four innings it was a defensive gem of a game as Allie Trudeau battled through a bit of a knot in her back to pitch phenomenally and Burlingtons Daniel Koenen and her defense kept the Broncos at bay with an excellent performance.  The 5th, however would see the Broncos start to adjust as they got to Koenen for two on a 2 run single from McClelland.  In the sixth UG broke open the door on a one out walk, a single, and a three run smash by Moore.  After a taser was caught for out two the Broncos used a couple singles and hit by pitches to plate 3 more to conclude the scoring.  Moore relieved Trudeau and struck out the side for the 10-0 run rule victory.  On the day Moore and Trudeau combined to strike out 16 of the 19 batters they faced, giving up one hit while McClelland would go 4-4 with a home run and 3 RBIs, Moore 2-4 with a double, a himer and 3 RBIs and Hribar 2-4 with a homer.

Poynette 7, Wisconsin Heights 1
Poynette's sophomore pitcher Mattie Bredeson held off some pretty big sticks tonight at Mazomanie's Lions' Park as she scattered four hits, fanned nine and walked six (three intentionally). "Mattie is a project in motion," said Head Coach Bob Tiomlinson. "She has a lot of velocity for someone with her stature but the ball really explodes on hitters. Now it's a matter of making pitches rather than just throwing pitches and she is maturing toward that level." Macenzie Kraemer was coming off a no-hit performace the night before but in the second inning Poynette cleanup hitter Brooke Dredske tagged an offering that boomed off the fence in rightcenter for a double and when senior Abby Neabling followed suit with a double as welll Dredske scored. "I think those two smashes sent a message early," I know it did for our team," added Tomlinson."From there our kids just dug in and swung from their heels."

That they did as later in the Rileyu Barnharst drew a base on balls and Bredeson moved the runners along. Junior Allison Tomlinson then delivered a booming home run ovr the fence in leftcneter on a 2-2 count and suddenly the Pumas led 4-0. The Pumas added a ffith run in the third when Dredske walked and moved to second when a shot hit at the Vanguard second sacker ate her up and both runners were safe. After a strikeout Bredeson helped herself out with an rbi single up the middle.

Heights would get unearned run in the bottom of the third when withone out Bredeson walked Adler. Taylor Kraemer bunted and reached on a dropped ball at first base. Doherty sent down 4-3 and with a runner at second Poyntte chose to intentionally walk Macenzie Kraemer and followed that intentional walk with an immediate intentional walk to Kayla Kraemer to load the bases. Bredeson then bore down and coaxed a 4-3 ground ball to Maegan Brookins at second to end the inning. In the top of the fifth Neabling faced an 0-2 count but took the next offering over the fence in left boosting the lead to 6-1. In the top of the seventh Brea Falstad tagged a Kraemer 0-1 offering high and deep over the fence in left for a 7-1 lead. Bredeson meanwhile was mowing down Vanguards, getting ahead in the count and making pitches. Neabling was the only player in the game with more than one hit. In the first inning Bredeson fanned Taylor Kraemer and Dohrty but Macenzie Kraemer snuck a liner past Neabling at first. On a 2-2 count she headed for second but Poynette catcher Riley Barnharst erased her with a perfect throw to the bag where Brookins applied the tag. "I'm not sure that speed is accustomed to be thrown out trying to swipe bases but Riley was up to the task tonight,"said Tomlinson. The Pumas moved to 12-3 on the season and kept pace with Columbus in the Capitol North.
