Hrncar was tough in the circle tonight on a cold, windy day

The Westosha Central Falcons took advantage of 5 Wilmot errors and rode the arm of Alyssay Hrncar to a 4-0 victory over the host Panthers.  Hrncar allowed 3 hits and struck out 7 en route to her 8th victory of the season.  The Falcons scored the only run they would need in the 1st when Hrncar walked and reached 2nd on a walk to Kayla Konwent.  Chyanne Onstad then hit into a fielder’s choice but the throw to double her up missed 1B Hannah Grossi and Hrncar scampered home with the run.  The Falcons added two more in the 2nd .  With one out, Heidi Holmstrom walked.  Hrncar reached first on a base hit and advanced to second on another Wilmot error, which scored Holmstrom.  Hrncar reached third when Kayla Konwent singled in the infield but scored when the throw was off the mark.  The Falcons final run was plated on an RbI double by Onstad in the 4th.  From there the Falcon defense and Hrncar’s pitching took over.  “Alyssa had great control today.  That was especially impressive with how cold it was tonight.  The difference tonight was that we played solid defense and we took advantage of some miscues by Wilmot.  They are a very sound team.  It seemed like the elements may have played a role.  This really was a closely played contest,” said Co-head coach Tom Lampe.  With the win the Falcons improved to 4-0 and sit atop the Southern Lakes Conference.  They are 9-2 overall.  Westosha returns to action this Friday when they travel to Delavan to take on the Comets.
