Another is she Safe or Out play to think about.

Tis a struggle but we’re gettin’ closer!

In terms of team previews, the heading tonight is right on. We are getting a steady flow of team previews coming in but they aren’t coming in so fast that I can’t keep up with them. Three more today from Racine Lutheran, Mosinee and Mondovi have been added to the previews in each school’s respective conference outlook.

Spread the word among the head coaches in your conference to send in a team preview. Tell them to read some of the others that have been sent in so far.

Here is a play that was sent in today and the sender asked me to include it in tonight’s bulletin. Here it is:  Runner at 1st and second and both stealing on the pitch.....3rd base playing in for slap and SS heads to cover 2nd base. Batter slaps down the line past 3rd base but hits the runner before she reaches 3rd. Whats the call? – Answer will be at end of tonight’s bulletin.

The weather this week looks to be fantastic. At least in this part of Wisconsin. Highs were in the mid 50s here today (at one time my car said it was 58 but then it dropped to 56 quickly). Longrange forecasts look like low 60s for March 16th and there is no snow on our field. If you’ve ever been to Diamond of Champions in Poynette you can imagine what that means – all out inter-squad scrimmge on day one of practice. We’ll start sorting out our questions marks. We’ll hash things over as a coaching staff and we’ll start working on the good stuff. The pitchers will go live vs the batters on day one and situational work will be covered. We might even extend practice by an hour the first few days because we have players leaving town in the first couple of weeks for family trips, Spanish Club trips, and more. I’m sure it’s the same for most of the other schools in the state as well.

If you are looking to add some games to your schedule and March 28th is free, consider coming to Poynette and taking on Gilman, Stratford and Poynette in one, two or three games. Just contact me if you are interested.

Rule Changes for 2015 (NFHS)
1-6-1 The batting helmet shall have a non-glare (not mirror-like) surface
1-7-1 The catcher’s helmet shall have a non-glare (not mirror-like) surface

That’s about it for tonight.Since the ball had gone past the third sacker on that slap hit and there were no infielders with a chance to make a play, the runner is not out and the ball is alive.

That’s it!
Keep it Rising!
