Team Previews-State Records-Coaches Honor Roll- Poynette Jamboree Information

Hi-Diddle-Diddle- the Cat and the Fiddle, the ball sailed over the moon!

Maybe that’s not the way the nursery rhyme goes but it works for tonight in the fastpitch softball world.

Hello Again from the desk of The Fastpitch Chronicle.

A small group of coaches have returned team previews for the upcoming season and I want to be sure to publish every one that I receive. If you sent me one and it’s not posted just send it again or email to me and tell me I missed it. I will post one or two more tonight and that will be all of those I have received. Be sure to go tothe  High School tab and then click on Team Profiles. Two tabs will appear to the right so click on the one that corresponds with the first letter of the conference your team is in to read those from your conference. Then you can scroll down through the entire lists of conferences. Coaches who read these bulletins regularly and have sent previews in are encouraged to contact the other coaches in your conference and urge them to submit some information. My master list is very close to complete but when I send the bulk email I get quite a few returned to me and I know they are good emails. It’s most likely spam filters on your end. I’m working on a method to use a third party email provider but Mail Chimp actually requires you to ask to be added to my lists. At least that is the way I think Mail Chimp works. If not, perhaps one of you can help me out with that. I’m also looking into using the website at SportNgin to do the mass emails to coaches.

I am also compiling a separate email list of assistant coaches. I’d like to include every high school coach, head, paid assistants and volunteer assistants in the state so we can communicate important information back and forth. I need head coaches or an assistant at each school to email the emails addresses of those people at your respective school. When speaking about assistant coaches and volunteer assistants, head coaches are reminded that there are requirements that must be met in order for assistants of either kind to be coaching. Check out those requirements and know the guidelines.

Take a look at the Coaches Honor Roll page too and make sure that information is up to date from your end. The only way I update information on there is when I get it from coaches or readers who know that somebody needs to be added or moved up in a category/milepost. For instance, I know that the highly successful former coach at New Lisbon is now the new head coach at Southwestern and I know that he is sitting at 292 varsity wins. Eight more and he moves up to the list of coaches with 300 wins. I don’t keep close track on any coaches though. That’s too much work and too much time and I need the time just to get bulletins written, update the site with information you send me and even coach a team of my own. So, if you look over the Coaches Honor Roll Page and see that I’ve missed you or somebody, just email the information and I will post it that same day. Usually with a minute of when I read the email (that way I don’t forget). I know about the Southwestern coach because somebody told me that this week.

Take a look at our “Unofficial” state records pages. I’m sure that there are players who should be on the lists I have therein. Just send me the information and somebody I can confirm it with (if you are not the coach or don’t have a clipping to scan and send me and I will update the records page. It’s simple. So don’t get angry at me – just get at it and send me the email. I added some players to the lists this week – a player from Eisenhower who hit 13 automatic home runs last season (an unofficial state record) and a player who fanned 361 batters in 176 innings pitched last season. Check those out and see who those players were. I also added a player from last year who drew more than 30 bases on balls last year.

The days are going by and in just 11 days coaches can actually teach, coach and instruct their players and get them ready for yet another great Wisconsin High School fastpitch softball season.

We still have plenty of room for more teams that might want to travel to Poynette on March 28th and take on Gilman and Stratford. We will make you a special offer if you take part. What is the special offer? Just contact me and say you’re interested in a game or two or three.

If you are not a high school coach that means you have to be a real fastpitch junkie like some of the rest of us because you are reading this diatribe. Thanks and welcome aboard.

Check out the list of teams that I have contracts from to play in the Poynette Fastpitch Jamboree on May 1-2. If your team is not on the list below and you are expecting games just email or call me and let me know I need to add you in.
Here is the list: DeForest, Winneconne, Juda, Pacelli, Mineral Point, Adams-Friendship, Xavier, Randolph, Fox Valley Lutheran, Eau Claire North, Madison LaFollette, Madison West, Highland, Wilmot, Columbus, Waukesha North, Monona Grove, Wautoma, River Valley, Amherst, Portage, Catholic Central, Bonduel, LaCrosse Logan, Pecatonica, Westosha Central, Sauk Prairie, Belmont, New Lisbon, Beaver Dam, Thorp, Luxemburg-Casco, Independence-Gilmanton, Marshall, Baraboo, Gale-Ettrick-Trempeauleau, Rice Lake and Poynette. Here is a list of teams I thought were either in the Jamboree but I have no contract for or a team that I do have a contract for but didn’t know you wanted games. If you do want games let me know for sure. Turner, Northwestern, Port Edwards, Escanaba, Michigan.

Have a great fastpitch day,

Keep it Rising!

Bob
