All Across Wisconsin People had been Wondering!

Wondering what you ask?

They had been wondering when the WFSCA All State Lists would be published.

Let me give you just a bit of WFSCA history that surrounds the all state lists and their date of publication.

There was a time in the past when the all state lists would be selected in June but it would take until August and often near the end of August for the person in charge of distributing the results would get it taken care of.

That’s all changed and for the better?

How you ask?

Just go to www.wfsca.org and click on the awards tab on the top line. Then click on the All State Lists. They were posted earlier today for the internet world to view.

Here is a link to the lists to make it easy for you.

Congratulations are in order for Dave Bjorge, head coach at Arcadia whose Raiders completed a perfect 30-0 season and the Division 3 state title. He was named the WFSCA Coach of the Year.

Bjorge’s pitcher was the top pick for All State pitcher and was named the Player of the Year in Division 3 for 2014.

The Division 1 Player of the Year was Westosha Central sophomore third sacker Kayla Konwent. She proved her mettle in the state title game by going 5x6 while also being intentionally walked three times and nearly, by inches only, went 6x6 and would have driven in the tying and winning run.

The Division 2 Player of the Year is Baldwin-Woodville standout pitcher and hitter Abby Klopp who appeared in three state tournament championship games in her career, winning once and losing twice. She was eliminated this year by eventual state champion Mosinee.

The Division 4 Player of the Year is Kyncaide Diedrich a soon to be senior at Athens. She does not appear on any of the all state lists by position however.

The Umpire of the Year is Marty Marasch who was nominated from the Valley/Lakeshore District.

Here is a link to a page where you can click to see all the All District lists.

Last year I did a breakdown of the WFSCA All State lists by Division and by the number of schools in each division that were represented on the lists. I will be doing the same thing in the next few days. Actually – I have already done part of it so here that information is for your reading.

A look at the all state lists this year shows us this:

There are 19 catchers on the list with 9 having played on Division 1 schools, 4 from Division 2 schools, 3 from Division 3 schools four from Division 4 schools.

There are 27 pitchers out and 15 are from Division 1 schools; there are 5 from Division 1 schools; 5 from Division 3 schools and 1from Division 4 and she won the state title.

In the infield there are 32 players on the list with 17 from Division 1 schools; 9 from Division 2, just five from Division 3; and only 2 from Division 4.

Out in the outfield there are 20 in all with 10 being from Division 1 schools, 7 from Division 2 schools, 3 from Division 3 and 1 from Division 4;

On the Utility list there are four players: 3 are from Division 1 and the other is from a Division 2 school.

So there you have it – a quick look from the outside at the inside of the WFSCA All State lists.

Are there kids missing from the list?

You Betcha and that happens for a lot of reasons that are too numerous to type about tonight but it will be addressed in a future, near future Bulletin. In the meantime, maybe I’ll see you watching games at the Poynette Summer Jamboree this weekend.

Have a great fastpitch weekend!

Keep it Rising!
