A Look at the Western Cloverbelt Conference

There will be some stiff competition this year

Altoona (12-2) - The defending Conference Co-Champions return a solid core starting with 1st Team all-conference players in 3rd Team All-State Utility/Pitcher Kristi Hicks and 2nd Basemen Laiken Jones. Also returning is a very solid catcher in Courtney Naser. The Rails did lose Jessica Honadel (2nd Team All-Conference) and Kelsey Hanson (Honorable Mention) to graduation.

Fall Creek (12-2) - The defending Conference Co-Champions lost three 1st Team All-WCC players to graduation in Pitcher - Karlie Ganzer, Centerfielder - Carly Cline and Shortstop-Emily Anderson. Abby Williamson and Britta Burkhart were honorable mention All-WCC also lost to graduation. Junior 2nd Team Catcher Jessie Geske does return to lead this year's squad.

Thorp (8-4) - The Cardinals lost four seniors who all garnered recognition on the All-WCC team last year. Pitcher Jordan Schimke and Shortstop Kristie Haas were both 1st Team players and All-Region performers. Right Fielder Katie Jacque and 1st Basemen Kayln Szymanski were both Honorable Mention All-WCC. The Cardinals do return three 2nd Team performers in Senior-Halle Pszeniczy (2B), Junior-Julie Benzschawel (3B) and Junior-Kelsey Roshell (CF). Junior Kayla Greschner returns as the starting catcher, Sophomore Karley Kryzanski will move from left field to shortstop and Junior Paola Cortese will be back after ACL survery in the outfield where she started as a freshman. The pitching duties will be taken over by Senior Morgan Beilke and Sophomore Lizzy Schimke who both logged varsity innings last season.

Chippewa Falls McDonell Central (6-8) - The Macks 1st All-Conference Catcher Syndney Schemenauer returns with fellow battery mate, Senior Bailey Eckert (Honorable Mention All-WCC) in the circle. A pair of Second Team Players in April Peters and Maddie Rietchel also return as part of a strong nucleus. Honorable Mention 1st Baseman Gabby Geissler was lost to graduation.

Eau Claire Regis (4-8) - The Ramblers lost 1st Team All-Conference pitcher Rachel Liming to graduation. They do return second team All-WCC member Meg Prosek and a variety of young players from last year's regional final team.

Osseo-Fairchild (4-10) - Several player return from the team that upset the #2 seeded Fall Creek Crickets in the first round of last year's playoffs including Junior 1st Team All-WCC performer Amanda Pederson. Kylie Kostka was a 2nd Team member who was lost to graduation from the team.

Cadott (3-9) - Senior Pitcher and 1st Team All-WCC member Brooke Erickson was lost to graduation along with 2nd Team outfielder Spring Najbert. The Hornets will look to returning starters and young players to fill their void in 2014.

Stanley-Boyd (1-9) - The Orioles lost 1st Team All-WCC outfielder Marissa Westaby to graduation along with Honorable Mention member Molly McLoone. They will look to returning starters and young players to fill their void in 2014.
