Iola-Scandinavia softball team (3-0, 3-1) beat Amherst (1-2, 1-2) 6-0 in a CWC-East conference game at Amherst on Thursday, April 11. The Thunderbirds scored three runs in the first inning and scored three more in the fifth inning for the victory.
The T-Birds outhit the Falcons 7-4. Brooklyn Berrens and Ava Printz each had two hits. Myah Heschke hit a two-run homerun over the left-centerfield fence in the fifth inning.
Senior pitcher Julia Munoz went the distance to earn the shutout win. Munoz allowed four hits, two walks while striking out 10 batters.
