Westosha Central Season Update so far

These reports were buried in my old AOL email -- here are the updates from Coach Tom

Westosha Central 28, DD 0
Westosha Central opened the 2021 season with a 28-0 home victory over Delavan.  Riese Mosback earned the win with 3 innings of no-hit, 8 strike out pitching.  "Riese was outstanding tonight.  She hit her spots and kept them off balance."  (co-head coach Tom Lampe). The Falcons score multiple runs in each inning.  Delaney Hawkins led the charge with a three hit, 5 RBI performance.  Hawkins led off the bottom of the first with an inside-the-park home run.  Olivia Nahorniak and Megan Lejcar added four RBIs while Carly Vogelsang and Lila McNeill added three each.  The Falcons also benefited from 18 Comet walks.  The Falcons are 1-0 in the SLC and overall.  They will travel to Delavan to face the Comets again on Friday.


Westosha Central 22, DD 0

Westosha Central improved to 2-0 with a 22-0 win at Delavan.  The offense exploded for 12 runs in the first inning. Brynn McNeill, Emily Wermling,  and Megan Lejcar led the offense plating 3 runners each.  McNeill had 4 hits (2 singles and 2 doubles),  Lejcar (2 singles), and Wermling (single and triple).  The Falcons collected 16 hits enroute to the victory.  "We did a great job of being patient.  We made solid contact all day long".  (Co-head coach Tom Lampe). Lila McNeill started the game but Emily Wermeling pitched 3 innings for the win.  The Falcons are 2-0 on the season.  They will face Kenosha Tremper and Kaukauna in a triangular tomorrow in Paddock Lake.  First pitch is 9 am. 

Top Ranked Kaukauna 29, Westosha Central 3 and 
Westosha Central 10, Kenosha Tremper 0

Westosha Central split two games this weekend, defeating Kenosha Tremper 19-0 in 3 innings while losing to Kaukauna 19-3 in five innings.  In the opener, the Falcons scored three in the first inning and 16 in the second to cruise past Tremper.  The offense was led by Emily Wermeling and Megan Lejcar (3 hits each).  Wermeling and Lila McNeill each homered to pace the 15 hit attack.  McNeill pitched three scoreless innings for the win.  In the nightcap, the Ghosts exploded for a 15 run 4th inning to open up a tight game.  Riese Mosback took the loss, giving up 11 runs.  Skylar Calmes gave up five hits to earn the win.  "We did some good things but there are things we need to improve on.  This group is determined and will put in the work to fix those issues." (co-head coach Tom Lampe). With the split, the Falcons moved to 3-1 on the season.  They return to action on Monday when they host Wilmot in Paddock Lake. 

Wilmot 16, Westosha Central 0

Anna Wishnowski pitched one-hit ball and Wilmot collected 12 hits including  a Sophie Schmidt grand slam and Alan Buchanon home run enroute to a 16-0, 5 inning victory over Westosha Central.  Wishnowski allowed a second inning single to Jill Adams for the lone Falcon hit.  She struck out eight.  Riese Mosback took the loss for the Falcons.  She allowed all 16 runs with 5 earned.  The Panthers took the lead in the 3rd when Wishnownski hit a one out double.  She scored on a Hailie Morton single.  Two more scored as a result of a Falcon error (1 of 5 mistakes).  Wilmot scored five more runs in the 4th.  With two out and the bases loaded, Schmidt took a Mosback fastball to left center for a grand slam.  The Panthers were able to add eight more runs in the 5th innings to bring the run-rule into play.  "Anna Wishnowski really kept us off balance.  She threw strikes and was always ahead in the count.  Then she mixed her speeds.  She's the most impressive pitcher we've seen this year."  (Tom Lampe-co-head coach, Westosha Central). With the loss the Falcons drop to 3-2 on the season and 2-1 in the SLC.  They will face the Panthers again later this week. 

Wilmot 9, Westosha Central 0
Wilmot used a 14 hit attack, led by the 4 hit, 3 RBI effort by Sophie Schmidt to defeat Westosha Central 9-0 at Wilmot.  Anna Wishnowski earned her second straight shut out over the Falcons, allowing 3 hits while whiffing 7.  Wilmot started early with 3 in the first inning off of Lila McNeill.  Three straight hits by Keghan Bye, Wishnowski, and Katherine Bubel  plated one run.  Schmidt's first hit scored the other two.  The game was still within reach in the 5th when Jess Dorobeck hit a two-run homer over the left field wall to make it 7-0.  The Panthers added two more in the 6th for the final tally.  "We played better ball tonight but they really hit the ball well and Anna really kept us off balance."  (co-head coach Tom Lampe-Westosha Central). With the loss the Falcons evened their record to 3-3 overall and 2-2 in the SLC.  They will face SPASH on Saturday at the Chippewa Falls Invite.
