It's a winning tradition

The Dariyland Conference will look a bit different this year as Pepin/Alma starts competing as a member after decades in the Dunn-St. Coix ConferenceCochrane-Fountain City. Mop matter who is new and who has left one thing will be a constant. CFC will be in the mix for a conference title.

CFC is in Division 4 and is coached by long-time mentor Steve Lyga who has retired from teaching but not from the softball head coaching gig. He is assisted by Kerrigan Lyga. The 2021 season will be Steve's 13th year at the helm, 14th with last year's deal. CFC has an overall winning percentage of 83%.

Steve's Coaching Experience includes: York-Northfield (ASA) 1979, 80, 81  (State Champions 1980, 1981) -- Head softball UW-LaCrosse 1981 (started the program) -- Aquinas Head coach: 1983,1984 -- St Michael-Alberville Baseball 1985 adn CFC in 1986. He then umpired from 1987 through 2007. His record at CFC is 217-52. Record over-all  247-81 (without ASA Women's Softball or baseball)

State tourney appearances (2)  2014, 2016
State Runner-up 2014
7 Regional Titles
6 Sectional Finals
Strange year to predict the top squads in the Dairyland. Not a lot back for anyone, so I'll pick the tested programs; CFC, Blair-Taylor, Eau Claire Immanuel (B-T and ECI have pretty good pitching) -- Dark Horse: Pepin-Alma, Indee-Gilmanton

Returners:  Emma Baures (12) All Dairyland as soph.  CFC MVP as a sophomore. Jordyn Halverson (12) first base;'  Linsey Peterson (12) shifting to SS (from 2B)

CFC's strength:  Tradition!  11 years in the top 2 places.  9 Dairyland titles
